Training Sessions Conducted by HANDS Sanghar for Disaster Preparedness

HANDS” Sanghar organized training sessions in 170 villages of Union Councils Chotiyarioon and Sethar Pir to raise awareness and preparedness for both natural (earthquakes, floods, storms) and man-made (fires, industrial accidents, terrorism) disasters.

The purpose of these sessions was to educate the local community on basic principles of emergency response, rescue, and evacuation. Special efforts were made to ensure the participation not only man but also women, Person with disabilities children, and the elderly so that people of all ages and backgrounds could be prepared to protect themselves and others during any disaster.

According to HANDS District Executive Manager Zohaib Noonari, “HANDS Sanghar has not only conducted awareness sessions but also running refresher sessions in these villages to aware the lessons learned and make practical preparedness more effective.”

He further stated that Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) committees have been formed in all 170 villages in both UCs These committees will take immediate action during any emergencies and continue to responds and provide assistance at the community level.

Local society highly appreciated this initiative by HANDS. One of them remarked, “Our area faces natural or manmade disasters almost every year and HANDS has not only helped us to protect our lives through training but has also empowered us to help others. This is truly a commendable step.
